This program is for physicians and other healthcare professionals who are licensed to prescribe and treat patients with pain. Participants will learn the elements of a chronic pain patient exam and what actions should be implemented and documented to protect the patient and the physician. Speakers: Darren McCoy, FNP-BC CPE and Ted Jones, MD Who should attend? This course is for physicians and any other professional licensed to prescribe and are interested in best practices in the process of a Pain Physical Exam and Studies and any participants interested in the discussion of Pain Psychology. The participant will review the assessment before Prescribing Opioids.
Course Objectives:
Define the reasons why your physical assessment and interview skills are critically important in treating a patient with pain
Discover that the chief complaint of pain may be caused by other sources that can be treated differently
Identify the importance of Risk assessment and using risk assessment tools in identifying vulnerable patients in treating pain
Determine whether or not a patient with chronic pain has an addiction
